With this technique, your baby will master a new skill in just two minutes.

Moms and dads obstinate children should try a method that helped a five-year-old boy named Colton to learn how to tie shoelaces. Just see how cleverly he copes!

How to do it:

  • Let the kid wear shoes.
  • Now he needs to take a plastic tip of one cord and insert it into the hole from which it comes out.
  • Do the same with the second lace. There should be two big loops.
  • Then take the hinges in both hands, cross them and tie the usual knot - twice.
  • Pull the plastic tips out of the holes.

Voila The bow is ready, the sneakers fit tightly on the leg, which means they won't fly off until the kid runs around the playground.

At what age to start learning

Easily learn this skill kids with well-established fine motor skills of hands. This physiological property develops from the first months of life in the process of playing with things of various shapes and textures.

It is useful for babies from one year to give bags of cereals, sand, small pebbles sewn into them, to use various aids where the crumb learns to touch, feel, twist small elements. After two years to peanuts interesting simple designers, soft puzzles, wooden collapsible toys. They perfectly develop the motility of tiny fingers in clay and plasticine modeling, application, drawing.

Usually to 3-4 years old the kid, well mastered various skills, is ready to learn and the ability to tie shoelaces. This occupation will be for him an excellent educational game. It is important to teach the baby to determine which leg and hand he has - the left one, and which - the right one. By 5-6 years to master the simple method of lacing is necessary, especially if there are similar shoes.

It is interesting! It is believed that the first shoelaces appeared in 1790. Prior to this, lacing was used primarily in clothing. The prototype of the lace was a rope with metal cones at the ends.

Exercises for fine motor skills

To stubborn shoelaces were subject to little fingers, we need training. Fun exercises will not only strengthen muscles, but also develop creative abilities, teach you to think logically, improve coordination of movements:

Connect the dots. There are a lot of educational publications on sale, in which the task for the kid is set out - to circle around the points so that the image is obtained.

Mosaic. The ability to spread a pattern of small elements in a certain sequence is the first step towards mastering the basics of mathematics.

Sorting small items. In schools that teach children according to the method of Maria Montessori, clothespins, buttons, cereals and other trifles are widely used. In the classroom kids strung beads, sorted the elements according to various characteristics, shifting them from one bowl to another.

Coloring with stickers. The task of the baby is not only to color the picture you like, but also to find the corresponding image and carefully paste it onto the desired piece of the sheet.

Finger games. Two in one: gymnastics for little hands and memorizing funny poems.

Drawing in the sand, semolina. The real space for creativity: you can learn letters, numbers, draw thematic pictures or just pour warm sand with your hands.

How to get interested in learning

The kid himself can ask him to teach him to tie his shoelaces when he sees new sneakers with a depiction of the characters of his favorite cartoon or when choosing roller skates. We need to explain to him how important it is to properly pull the shoes along the leg: this is required by the safety rules. Laces have the property of treacherously unleashing at the most inopportune moment, clinging to them, you can fall.

The child is fascinated by the look of the original bright lacing on father's sneakers or mother's ankle boots. If the family has older children, they can also be connected to the process.

The boy may be interested in stories about representatives of professions who wear lace-up shoes: military, police, athletes, firefighters. Girls are interested in the process of interlacing bright strings, it is enough to pay attention to what beautiful kinds of combinations you can use.

Offer the kid a reward: if he himself laces up sneakers or shoes, he will go to the park or circus, to buy something desired for him.

Before you train to train on this shoe, buy or make a manual from cardboard, plywood, on which elements are attached to the image with the help of a rope.

What lace is better to learn

Much depends on the chosen model. Every little thing is important in the learning process, so the following shoelaces will be the best option:

  • Bright, pleasant to the touch, not too slippery, with solid eglets (tips).
  • Not too thin: they usually strive to slip out and hold the knot badly. Thick to tie kids uncomfortable.
  • It is desirable flat: from them it is simpler to form loops.
  • With a length of about 30 centimeters, longer laces will be constantly confused, too short will not allow to tie a knot with loops.

Step by Step Ways to Tie Shoelaces

The first lesson is better to spend, sitting behind the baby, if he is opposite to mirror the movement, it will quickly become confused. You can sit next to him, left or right, depending on whether the child is right-handed or left-handed. It is desirable to teach, not in a hurry and not being distracted by trifles. And if you still tell a fascinating tale or rhyme, then success is undeniable.

First, offer the crumbs to tie initial node for a funny story:

  1. “Once upon a time there were two brothers — Left and Right” —we form a knot (we pull the left lace behind the right lace).
  2. “Left called Right for a walk” - fold the left end of the lace in half into a loop.
  3. "The right one happily agreed" - we bandage the left end of the lace at the right loop.
  4. Tighten the resulting nodule.

Then get better easy way to fix the bow. Phased briefing:

  1. Pull both ends of the lace, take them in hand. Start a fairy tale: "Once upon a time there were two worms: Bim and Bom."
  2. Cross them together: "Let's go for a walk?", "Let's go!"
  3. Pull the tip of one lace down: “The worms took hold of the handles. Go and have fun. " (Wave your shoelaces).
  4. Pull off both ends and make eyelet loops: “The hares of Tim and Subject met them. They called the worms to visit to drink tea. ”
  5. Cross the loops: "Everyone takes up the handles and runs into the burrow."
  6. One loop is skipped in the resulting arch.
  7. Pull on the ends in different directions so that the bow drags on.

Or sing fun Spongebob song, which many kids love:

You want to tie your shoelaces,

Do not worry, this is nothing.

You take a string, a loop, a hook,

Oh miracle, there was a bundle!

First you need to pull them down

Then thread and overwhelm.

Loop, hook, and here

The boot does not fall down.

Another option is a simple bundle, or, colloquially, "grandma knot»:

  1. Tie a knot, as in the previous version (see picture below)
  2. Make one loop from the end of one lace, saying: "Bunny, he has an ear."
  3. Twist one end around the loop and say: "The bunny walked around the bush, went into his mink."
  4. Push the "ear" in the hole.
  5. Tighten the bow.

See another interesting and fashionable way to tie shoelaces now.

Tell your child that it is important to be able not only to lace up, but also to remove the laces from the shoes, and show how to do it.

It is interesting! Somehow, scientists using a computer method have calculated how many lacing options can be obtained if you take one shoe and a shoe with twelve holes. It turned out two trillion variants.

Watch a video showing how to teach a child to tie shoelaces in just 5 minutes.

Useful tips

  • Color half the lace in a different color: so the baby will not have a dazzling look in his eyes, and he will quickly understand which loop is easier to place on top: left or right. This is especially important if the parent has a dominant hand - the right, and the child is left-handed or ambidexter.
  • Place "simulators" in the form of tapes or strings on various objects in the house: handles of cabinets, chair legs, on toys so that the baby can practice tying the bow. Girls can be offered to weave braids dolls.
  • Mark the daywhen the child was able for the first time to wear shoes with laces.

Do not make these mistakes.

  • If classes with the baby are regular, he will be able to master a new skill in 1-2 weeks. If you train once a week, the child will quickly forget everything he has learned.
  • Help and advise only if the crumb needs help. Over time, he will gradually learn everything.
  • You can scold and criticize only if you intend to grow a bunch of complexes in a child, break trust and discourage the desire to learn.
  • Did the kid find his way to tie his shoelaces? Well, he has outstanding creative ability. Do not insist on your method, even if it seems more convenient to you.
  • Do not compare and do not rush the baby.
  • If the child is eager to learn, do not postpone the matter indefinitely. Take your time and start classes.
  • Do not seek to show all the ways at once: let the crumb master at least one, the simplest. Each time repeat the same actions explaining the words so that he does not get confused.
  • If the baby doesn’t work at all, set aside lessons for a while. If he is tired, interrupt class.
  • Celebrate success together at each stage, rejoice in it.

Of course, a child may well live without knowing how to lace up and untie his own sneaker, or constantly wear velcro shoes, which are easier to fasten. Psychologists around the world are sounding the alarm: more and more children are lagging behind the development of motor skills, which means that speech and thinking are lagging behind. The more a child is able, the better he orients himself in school and normal life.

When to start teaching a child to tie his own shoelaces

The way a small child can move his fingers indicates whether or not the motor skills of his hands are developed. In order for a child to be able to cope with his naughty shoelaces at the age of 4-5, it is necessary to start developing this ability in infancy. To do this, parents should be allowed to play with small things to the child, be interested in modeling from clay and plasticine, stringing beads, drawing, assembling parts of the children's designer. All these exercises have a positive effect on the mobility of the fingers. Of course, the baby requires constant supervision, especially if he loves to put different things in his mouth. But dad and mom, in the process of control, will find out whether their child is left-handed or right-handed.

Any work with the hands prepares the little man to conquer a multitude of heights, and one of them is the tying up of his own laces. This is a simple matter, but it will take a lot of time for a baby to learn how to do it. But if his fingers "run", one can hope that it will not be long to wait.

Already in 3-4 years the baby is quite able to master such a task. Normally, if a child has learned to take care of himself before school. Of course, to three years the toddler will be more difficult than at a later age, but there is also a positive point. Thanks to this training:

  • The child better assimilates any information
  • He improves memory and concentration,
  • Mental skills are rapidly developing.

Therefore, it is not necessary to facilitate the life of the baby, buying him shoes with Velcro. When the time comes for shoes and shoes, it will be extremely difficult for him to master the science of tying ordinary laces. And for parents, it threatens with an extra headache, because during this period children have many needs, responsibilities and problems.

If you decide to train a three-year-old baby, it is not necessary to hand him a daddy's sneaker, you can make a special allowance of cardboard and bright laces so that he, while playing, learns to tie them. If, having trained, he will refine this skill to automatism, he has nothing to fear for his future shoes.

Perhaps the baby will find such an activity too complicated, so that he does not give up on his own abilities, parents should explain to the child that he did everything right, his pens are not yet adapted for such work. Also, parents should not discuss their failure even with each other, this usually leads to alienation, guilt feelings and other psychological problems. The fact is that the child perceives each of his victories and mistakes very emotionally.

How to teach a child to tie shoelaces quickly and easily

Some fathers and mothers do not know how to begin training and in what form to serve it. The main thing is to interest the child, inviting him to play with the strings, ribbons, bows. You can cook for him some beautiful wide ribbon. Shoes for this take is not necessary. Very often, children are enthusiastically engaged in lacing, which the developing game teaches.

Dad or mom should be close and clearly show how the process of tying. A small child, due to the developed imitation of actions by adults, will definitely begin to repeat after his parents. It is desirable to explain in detail what and why, in words.

Important! You can not customize the baby, the more annoyed, in time everything will come - and finger motility and quick grasp. Periodically praising and encouraging a son or daughter, parents create the necessary trusting atmosphere that helps the child concentrate and continue training.

When a father does not know how to teach a child to tie his shoelaces quickly and easily, let him just show by example. There are two basic techniques of tying.

The first method involves tying a bow, consisting of two loops:

  • The tips of both tapes are folded so as to form a loop,
  • The hinges are crossed, while the top is bent down and threaded into the resulting ring,
  • If you pull on both loops, the knot pulls together

When there is training on the shoes, the ends of the laces, if they were not folded into loops, after the knot is tied, you can remove the boards of shoes or sneakers. It is important to warn your son or daughter that this should be done so that they do not interfere with walking, otherwise you can stumble and fall. The child needs to be explained that if you do not make loops, it will be difficult to untie the knot.

If the father and mother are close, the baby can repeat the actions behind them or do it simultaneously. It is necessary to show slowly so that the baby can remember every movement and sit parallel to the child. The fact is that if you sit opposite, it will be difficult for him to imitate parental actions. And next to it he can do the same movements, gradually delving into the nuances of the process.

In this case, you can help, prompting what to do next, but only in words. Father or mother should not engage themselves in the laces of the baby. An exception may be the request of a son or daughter for help. After the first victories, it is imperative to praise the baby. Friendly encouragement will encourage and encourage further training with even more complex tasks.

Parents should never stand aside - they are not observers, but actively participate in the process of learning a new case for a child. The basic rule is to start on extraneous "simulators" and devote at least 10-14 days to honing the skill. Already at this stage, you can learn various types of knots and lacing. Only after a couple of weeks, it makes sense to start the lace-up on this shoe. To do this, you can buy new beautiful baby shoes - let him choose what he likes. Of course, it should be ensured that the shoes fit him, were comfortable, safe and of high-quality material.

How to make learning process of tying shoelaces effective and interesting for a child

In order for knowledge to be assimilated more easily, and the child will not abandon the desire to continue to learn unfamiliar, but necessary for life things, parents can apply some useful tips:

Most importantly, the desire to learn does not pass, it is for this that parents need to take care of a new shoe for their offspring. If before that the kids wore more shoes with a sticky buckle, now new shoes with lacing should become a symbol of maturation and special responsibility for them. They can be interested in any topic related to knotting - the adventures of sailors who cannot imagine their lives without knitting knots. For girls, the story of all sorts of ways to use scarves and kerchiefs can be attractive - to knit them in a stylish and fashionable way, considerable skill is needed.

Council During training, do not sit down opposite the child, but next to him. This should be done so that the child does not copy your movements in a mirror image, but simply repeats everything after you.

You can start training small children on cloth belts, wide ribbons, colorful ribbons - first there will be simple knots and bows, the skill comes with regular exercises.

It is necessary to consider some factors that directly affect the success of classes:

  • There is no need to train in a hurry - moms or dads should be absolutely free and fully devote themselves to the child,
  • If you have to walk, go to the cinema or to the zoo, you do not have to train with the kid - his attention will be involuntarily distracted by thoughts about interesting meetings,
  • Small children quickly begin to feel tired, so the lessons should be short but meaningful,
  • The study of each knot and the method of lacing should take place sequentially. While the child has not mastered one method, it is not necessary to offer him to try another.

How to teach a child to tie shoelaces: rhyme

Everyone knows that kids love to play, so it's much easier for parents to turn learning into a game - then learning will be fun and the kid will quickly and easily remember how to tie shoelaces on their own. For this, a poem about a bunny will come to our aid:

  1. Bunny darling, He has two ears. - make loops of laces.
  2. Bunny bush bypassed, - twist one eyelet for another.
  3. In his mink came to - slip an eyelet in the hole.
  4. And I found a carrot there! - tighten the string.

One-two - right,
One-two - to the left!
- He does not want to lace up -
Mitya thought to justify himself.
And to prove it,
The knots began to knit:
One-two - on the right,
One-two - on the left.

To tie the lace could not

Neither a kitten nor a puppy ...

I tried for an hour,

But not tied up again.

What to do, how to be?

Barefoot walk now?

Here I sit, I look out the window,

And I do not go out into the yard!

Toy-lacing for child learning

For teaching a child, in addition to the above-mentioned rhymes, it is also possible to use lacing toys for training fine motor skills, which can be easily bought in a store. For example, such:

How to make a toy-lacing yourself

Or you can make such a toy-lacing yourself, acquiring beautiful cords and cutting the base out of the cathons (you can involve the child in the process of creating a toy - then he will be very happy to train-play with a toy he made himself).

For the manufacture of such a boot, we need:

  • shoelaces
  • tight craton
  • scissors
  • paints / markers / pencils - what the kid will paint sneakers-lacing
  • hole punch or awl for making lace holes

How to make lacing:

  1. cut out the cardboard boot
  2. we give it to the child so that he can paint it with paints / felt-tip pens or pencils
  3. using a hole punch (for example, you can use such a figured hole punch that we used during the manufacture of various handicrafts) or sewed holes in the shoe, into which we pass laces.

All the simulator is ready.

Motivational laces cartoons: video

The child will be interested to see how the characters of his favorite cartoons cope with the problem of tying shoelaces. Suggest your child to watch a cartoon together, then fix the skills in practice.

Knowing how to teach a child to tie shoelaces quickly and simply, parents attach the child to a new, interesting for him occupation, which may become the basis for his further, own creativity. And even if this does not happen, the kid will be able to develop such an important ability as fine motor skills of the hands, which is directly related to the brain, increasing the level of mental development. By the way, it also significantly develops memory, imagination, the ability to think logically, which is so important for a person.

Age features of children for exploring the lacing

Modern children's shoes have increasingly begun to do with Velcro and zippers. This makes life easier for parents and young children. Such a decision is understandable, because for a child under three years of age it is difficult to master tying shoelaces. But the baby is growing and he will still have to face it. How to teach a child to tie shoelaces and when is it better to do?

Recommended age for tutoring

Children's age for learning

Every parent should know that the process of lacing and tying bows is not an easy task for children's motor skills. Experts advise to develop small movements from birth.

Before acquaintance of the child with laces, it is necessary to spend some entertaining trainings The most common exercises are considered to be stringing large peas, shapes, or even toys.

The experience of teachers and psychologists suggests that it is best to acquaint children with laces at the age of four to five years. It should be borne in mind that girls grow and develop much faster than boys. If you have an interest in a daughter of three years old, you need to encourage it in her. Boys show the process of lacing better not earlier than 4 years. It is at this age that interest is manifested, and the whole process will be easy and entertaining. If the parents suddenly did not find any interest in the child, and maybe even felt a protest, then it is better to postpone this activity for some time. But to continue to instill interest still stands. For example, start yourself wearing shoes with laces, and sometimes ask your child to help lace up sneakers or shoes.

Excellent helps to develop interest in the lace-up buying new shoes with laces. Let the baby choose the ones he likes.

Examples of games with lacing

For training it is enough to use simple laces. But for some children, the appearance of toys is important. Therefore, you can use beautiful and fashionable laces or buy special games with lacing.

  1. Start training better with the skills of folding the rope in a variety of shapes, placing them on the table or on the floor.
  2. After that, you need to try tying knots.
  3. Then you can go directly to the lacing.

Parents can clearly show that shoes can be laced up tight or weak. Best of all, if mom or dad show by example how you can cleverly lace up shoes.

Lace games

When children begin to quickly tie up their laces, it is a good idea to offer them competitions with the participation of parents and grandparents, as well as older children in the family. Criteria for victory can be different - in speed or quality. For example, the winner is the one who quickly cope with the lacing. And the second option, when the winner fastens beautifully and correctly.

Laces can be used from the age of four as visual games: try to complement their illustrations in the books read, play scenes with the use of laces. The main thing is that the child perceives the laces positively, and not as a difficult task.

Toys with lacing

Lace toys

These types of games are recommended to use from an early age. They can be purchased at the store for the development of children, and you can make yourself. Personally made toys, lacing not only save the family budget, but also serve as those rare moments when parents put their souls in their children. There may be many such toys and they can be made together with the child, ask the baby to help you. Probably, there is no child who would not be flattered by such a trusting attitude of adults.

For the manufacture of toys need a pair of laces and thick cardboard. From cardboard, you can cut the semblance of shoes, pierce, where you need holes. Be sure to brightly paint the toy to make it more interesting to deal with it. Lanyards pick up colorful and beautiful, then the child will be happy to start classes. At the beginning of the game you need to show how the lace is inserted, and ask the child to repeat this action. Then you can start tying laces and bows.

To make the game more entertaining, you can use elements of a fairy tale, make up its plot and play with the kid. Do not forget to praise the child for every little success, because it stimulates further actions so much!

By the time it takes to master, lace-up takes about three to seven days of systematic training. Sometimes children take the initiative and come up with their own way of lacing. Do not scold them for it, because they express themselves. And in any case, do not compare the child with his other peers. This is not only not conducive to the rapid acquisition of skills, but also reduces children's self-esteem, which greatly affects adult life. By showing patience and perseverance, you can achieve high results in any business.

The easiest way to tie shoelaces

The easiest way to tie shoelaces

Before you master the complex techniques of lacing, you need to familiarize yourself with the simplest method:

  1. Take one cord in both hands.
  2. Put the cord on top of your finger and lock the loop. Both hands should hold one loop of laces, the end of which hangs loose.
  3. Put one loop on the other, without letting them go. A small hole is formed between the loops. In it you need to thread the lower loop, which is in the right hand.
  4. Carefully seize the right loop through the left hand. We fix the left loop with the right hand. Slowly move your hands to the side. In the middle there will be a knot of laces, and on the sides there will be two loops. The easiest lacing ready!

Adult Lace Games

Having learned to tie shoelaces in childhood, adults in this business are already showing creativity and originality. Simple lace-up is done on the machine, not really thinking about the process. Many adults make tying shoelaces into real art. Shops offer shoelaces of different sizes and colors that look great on shoes. Unusual methods of lace-up are the decoration of shoes and the manifestation of their own style. You can see different ways of lacing on the video.

Lace Training Rules

Patience is the main weapon on the way to victory. Create a favorable attitude and take your time. Most likely, the child will not understand part of the explanations. For successful learning should follow a number of useful and simple rules:

  • The most suitable age for learning to tie shoelaces is 4-5 years.
  • Consider the degree of development: usually girls have a higher rate of development than boys. Having noticed a desire to learn new things from a child, feel free to try to master this business.
  • The child must clearly distinguish the left and right legs.
  • Choose for learning only one way of tying shoelaces. Large selection only confuses your baby.

Having examined in detail these simple rules, you can proceed directly to the learning process. So, let's begin.

Getting started

  • Take a position next to the child, not in front of him. So you eliminate the "mirror" of his movements. The crumb will simply repeat all the actions for you.
  • Choose the easiest way to tie your shoelaces. First show how to make nodules. After mastering this business it will be possible to proceed to the bows. It will be useful to see video tutorials on tying shoelaces. You can watch these videos with your child.
  • Tell your child that the loop should be made only at one end of the lace, the other end should be inserted into the loop, but not completely. As a result, we get a bow.

There is an old, time-tested way of tying shoelaces. It is very simple, but it has one major drawback: the laces are quickly untied. It is made of two loops at both ends of the laces, which need to be tied together. Seeing that the baby is wrong, do not rush to scold him, be tolerant.

Often the most difficult thing for a child is not tying the laces into the holes, but tying a bow

You should not teach everything at once, do it gradually. Be engaged in new business for 5-10 minutes every day. Daily training will help you quickly master a new skill and consolidate the results achieved.

Add to the process of learning game moments and rhymes. Come up with a funny story of two worms. They can be given names — for example, Type and Top. You tie the laces together and comment: "The worms embraced and went for a walk." Tying the lace, you can say: “Look how much fun they are!”, While waving tails.

Start up this sweet little rhyme:

Bunny-darling, he has two ears (while doing two loops of "tails").
Bunny bush bypassed (on this phrase, twist the loops between each other).
In his mink entered (now you should put a loop in the hole).
That's all! (tighten the string).

There are special educational cartoons that will entertain children and teach them this simple art:

We learn by developing fine motor skills

  • Lace games. The game is the main occupation of children, through it they best learn new information. Learn to tie shoelaces also through the game. A variety of lacing offered in children's stores, come in the form of shoes or fruit, which the caterpillar crawls through. Such an activity will be very interesting to the child. This type of toy is designed to develop fine motor skills.
  • Children's puzzles. An exciting game will take your fidget for a long time, help you master the coordination of movements, and will also be an excellent preparation before starting writing.
  • Small items. The famous Maria Montessori has long ago proposed this method of developing fine motor skills. Manipulations with small objects will contribute to the development of finger dexterity. Stringing beads, sorting out various cereals or transferring items from cup to cup is wonderful activities for children of any age.
  • Finger games. On the Internet you will find many various games with poems. The essence of such studies is that you need to make certain movements with your fingers or hands under the lines of verse. Play these games regularly and your little one will own their hands better.
  • Drawing in the sand. Doing this business will be easier on the sea or river sand. Draw patterns and pictures in the sand, and repeat how the numbers and letters are written. Sometimes stands with sand are installed at children's parties and development centers.
Drawing on the sand reveals the creative abilities, and also trains the fine motor skills of the child.

When starting learning, parents should not forget that this is not so easy for a child either, so you need to show maximum patience and love. It is always difficult for a child to master a new and unknown business, although it is interesting. Encourage and support your child with failures and praise for success and progress. Love is the only kind teacher. Shouts and nerves have not brought any benefit to anyone yet - they will not be able to help teach your child to tie the laces. By following our advice and your heart, you will teach your child to tie shoelaces quickly and successfully.

At what age should a child be able to tie his own shoelaces?

Training must begin with 5-6 years. That is, in preschool age. After all, when the child will change his shoes or tie untied shoelaces, you will not be there, and you will not be able to prompt or help. He should be able to cope with it well. Therefore, it is desirable that before school, the child learns not only letters and numbers, but also elementary self-service skills. But the lessons in the form of a game should start with the age of 4.

A very good training for tying shoelaces is the development of fine motor skills. Games with clothespins, modeling clay, finger drawing contribute to the development of finger sensitivity and dexterity. Another great way to prepare in the form of a game - a variety of lacing and threading threads in the holes.

Make at home a special treadmill. On the cardboard, draw the shape of two sneakers and make holes in the place of the lacing, pass the real laces there. Thus, a child, every day, without haste, in a calm atmosphere, will develop skills in tying shoelaces.

Start training is to prepare. After all, some kids even get confused between the left and right foot, which shoe, which foot to wear. Therefore, before embarking on the training of tying shoelaces, teach him to distinguish the sides and not be confused in shoes. To make it more convenient for the child to distinguish between shoes for the right and left foot, make funny tips. Take any medium-sized sticker, cut it in half and paste the left side inside the left shoe, and the right side onto the right shoe, respectively. So the baby is easy to orient in shoes, and will not be confused on what foot, what shoe to shoe.

There are several ways to tie laces.

Start with the easiest tying of the starting knot. Take in each hand on the cord and pull them over. Next, cross them, putting one on another. Thread the tip of the upper lace into the arch. Then we tie them in a knot, pulling them in different directions.

To make the child more fun and easier to remember the order of actions, tell him a short story about the bunny.

The bunny-jumper ran along the path, he ran around the tree and ran into his hole. And then we make a bow. Tightening the knot and making two ears like a bunny, we bind them together and tie a bow.

A more complicated way is to tie one loop. We tie the initial knot, and then instead of two eyelets, we make one.

  • For the first time, sneakers or shoes should be in your hands, and not on the child, it will be easier and more convenient. Take one sneaker in your hand and give the other one to the kid.
  • It is better to train in your free time so that training takes place in a relaxed atmosphere, and not in a hurry.
  • Show on your own example. Every time you wear shoes, show how you lace up your shoes. Interest your daughter or son in how quickly you can tie shoelaces.
  • Be patient. Of course, from the first time it’s unlikely that a crumb will succeed in doing everything as quickly and clearly as you. Encourage him, tell me that everything will work out, you just need to train your fingers.
  • Do not tell his failures to strangers. Even such a trifle, as not the ability to tie shoelaces can upset a child, so in no case do not tell at all and do not make fun of his first mistakes.
  • Use the imitation method. Properly sitting next to the child, and not the opposite, that is, mirror, he will see all your movements and repeat. Slowly show all movements, focusing on the correct positioning of the fingers and gripping the laces.

Children quickly grasp new information and love to repeat after adults. Therefore, even this is not an easy task how to learn how to tie shoelaces can become easy. The main thing to interest the child, showing developing cartoons, giving to lacing toy large lacing and develop the desire to become independent and adult. Then children can easily cope with any skill.

Preparatory stage

In order for a child to easily master new skills associated with fine motor skills, one should pay attention to this aspect of development from the first year of a baby’s life. A child who has learned to sit must be given objects with different shapes and surface textures.

For children from two years old and older, it is useful to play with loose materials and small items that can be sorted - this category includes cereals, beads, small buttons. But during these games it is necessary to continuously monitor the child, since he can shove a small object in the nose or swallow it.

Such interesting activities as modeling, drawing and shading, games with designers, stringing beads help to develop fine motor skills. In the course of the games, it is important to explain to the child where his left hand is and where his right hand is, to find out which of them assumes the main burden when performing actions. This will help in the future to quickly cope with the development of laces.

When to start learning

Suitable age for teaching children tying shoelaces is 3-6 years. By school age, the child must confidently cope with the task.

On the one hand, a three-year-old baby is more difficult to master this skill than a six-year-old, whose fine motor skills are much more developed. On the other hand, the training in tying shoelaces stimulates the development of fine motor skills, in parallel with which the intellect and learnability of the child develops.

It is advisable to start teaching your child to tie shoelaces at three or four years. The moment of psychology is also important: quite often a situation arises when parents buy preschooler shoes only on clasps, so that he can cope with picking for a walk on his own, and then they get annoyed when they discover that a child of 6 years is not able to tie shoelaces.

Please note: shoelaces in shoes for children should be soft and flat. They are easier to tie, and they hold the knot well. Round slippery shoelaces are badly tied and spontaneously untied during walking.

What form to train

Training should go in the form of a game. It is easier for a baby to learn new skills without psychological pressure from adults. He should be interested in the process. Compose some interesting story where the hero needs to properly tie the strings or bows.

You should not start with the laces on the shoes of the baby. Children are easier to cope with larger objects, just because of insufficiently developed motility of the fingers. For the first classes, prepare ribbons with a width of about one and a half centimeters. You can purchase a special educational game with lacing.

Support theory with practice - demonstrate the process with detailed explanations. It is important to sit next to the child, and not in front of him - the kids do not know how to "mirror" the movement, it will confuse them and cause stress.

Be sure to buy a new pair of shoes with beautiful laces for your son or daughter. You can additionally purchase several pairs of laces of different colors, and the kid will be happy to change them, experimenting with the color scheme, learning to confidently lace the shoe in the process.

Slow and uncertain movements of the baby’s fingers often cause irritation in an adult and the desire to quickly do everything for the child, especially when it comes to gathering for a walk or a visit. Do not give in to negative emotions, because the kids feel them perfectly, even in the absence of external manifestations.

Be patient, be sure to praise the child for successful actions and do not scold for unsuccessful attempts to tie a string. Daily practice will definitely bear fruit.

Shoe Lace Technique

Traditionally, children are taught to tie a bow of two eyelets on laces:

  • each end of the lace is folded in half, forming a flat loop,
  • the loops intersect each other,
  • the upper loop is bent down and taken to the same place on the other side of the second loop,
  • just pulling the loops, tighten the knot.

Be sure to explain to the kid the role of the eyelets: without them, the laces will be very difficult to untie. Give the child several times to untie the bows you have made. It is necessary that he slowly and carefully looked at what happens to the bundle when unleashing.

Over time, most children independently switch to a faster version of tying the laces on two loops. You can immediately teach this method:

  • one end of the lace folds into a loop,
  • a second lace runner starts up on top of it,
  • with the finger on which the eyelet lies, the middle of the second lace is picked up and brought out under the eyelet as a second loop,
  • loops are tightened.

Show your child how to tie one loop, as well as other options that you are familiar with. If the child maintains interest in the subject, then over time the baby will master various ways of tying, which will have a beneficial effect on the development of finger motility, spatial imagination.
